The team at the BGHS office provides advice on topics relating to doctoral studies and membership of the BGHS, such as the study programme and the doctoral process, the choice of a career or the possibilities of funding for professional orientation during and after the doctorate in academic and non-academic fields.
The Doctoral Representatives represent the concerns of doctoral researchers in the BGHS committees and are contact persons in all matters concerning BGHS membership.
Advice on problems in the supervision relationship
The supervision relationship between doctoral researchers, supervisors and the BGHS is regulated in the Supervision Agreement, which is signed by all parties at the beginning of the doctorate and establishes the doctoral researcher's membership of the BGHS.
Furthermore, the BGHS considers itself responsible for supporting doctoral researchers and supervisors of the BGHS in conflict situations and, at the request of the parties involved, accompanies the process of conflict resolution.
BGHS members can contact the BGHS office or directly the academic liaison. All concerns raised will be treated confidentially.
Information on how to structure the supervision relationship is also provided in the guidelines for good supervision of doctoral thesis.
